After the establishment in 1991 Awakenings serves as a net organization with innovative mission int he field ofa recovery-oriented community-based mental health reform in Hungary. We initiated and supported several NGO-s int he field includin Mental Health Interest Forum, the first user-driven, nationaladvocacy group in Hungary. We implemented Optimal Treatment Program, an evicence-based community care program for mental and addictive patients in cooperataion with Prof. Falloon, from 1995. We take part in the education of community psychiatry at several fields and provide services basedongood practicein our centre. We also implemented Supported Employment program and served hundreds of patients. We also startedMental Health Forum, anetwork with about 300 members,professionals and other stakeholders who joined to the mission of a democratic and recovery-based mental health inHungary (www.lefnet.hu) from 2008. From 2009 we also initiated a network with more than 15 NGO-s in Hungary to decrease stigma against people with mental problems and joined to the ’Open the Doors’ program of the World Psychiatric Association (www.nyitnikek.hu) . We are an educational centre providing HR trainings for innovative organizations besides other professional training programs. We have close relationship with several international organizations.
